Top 3 Tips to Selling Your Home at Christmas

Being the holiday season, we thought it would be a great time to discuss our 3 amazing tips to selling your home during Christmas.

BE ACCOMMODATING

Our number one tip for those of you with homes on the market during the Christmas holidays is for you to do your absolute best to accommodate every showing request. We understand it’s a busy time of year. You’re hosting, entertaining, having dinners, having guests, family and friends over and it may be very tempting to say “no” to a showing request because your house isn’t ready. But, keep in mind, people shopping this time of year are serious buyers and many of those last-minute appointments are impulsive buyers. You want to get them through your house at all costs. You never know which one of them is going to be the one that will buy your home. So, even if your house isn’t perfect… Let them through!

KEEP IT FESTIVE

Tip number two is to embrace the holidays. Make sure your Christmas tree is up and looking beautiful. Set the place settings at your dining table to make it more inviting. You can even put out some cider and some cookies for potential buyers to enjoy while they’re touring the home. If they feel at home, they’re more likely to buy it. At this time of year, we actually find a lot of our clients are hesitant to put up decorations but we do encourage it, it’s a great way to make buyers feel at home.

KEEP IT CLEAN

Tip number three is to keep your house clean. We understand there’s lots going on and it’s really easy for cleaning to get left behind. So plan ahead, clean as you go and do your best to make sure that your home is ready to show. Focus on the kitchen, bathrooms and the floors and you’ll be alright.
