MEET Shahriyar Shahzad

My Origin Story

I was born in Pakistan, and we moved to Toronto when I was a one-year-old. Moving a lot as a kid, from Toronto to Mississauga to Brampton, and now landing in Halton, it’s safe to say I’ve seen my fair share of homes and cities, which was the start of my real estate origin story. I’ve always wanted to work for myself and felt I had enough of the office lifestyle (16+ hours a day as an investment banker will do that to you). I enjoy meeting new people and making an impact in their lives, both being congruent with real estate. I also love investing in different markets, whether it’s the stock market or the real estate market; the opportunities are endless.

My Favourite Food

I have a major sweet tooth, so despite what my dentist says, chocolate cake will forever be my favourite food.

Where would we find you on a hot summer’s day?

Ideally on a beach playing volleyball with friends or taking out the summer car/motorcycle and riding aimlessly on some curvy back roads.

Where would we find you on a cold winter’s day?

On the top of a mountain with a snowboard or, more often, shovelling my driveway.

Early bird or night owl?

Currently, undergoing the transition to early bird, using all the tools at my disposal to wake myself up (obnoxiously loud alarms, cold showers, you name it). I will keep you updated on how it’s going.

What’s your favourite movie?

My favourite childhood movie is definitely Spider-Man, and yes, with Tobey Maguire, who, as far as I’m concerned, is the real Spider-Man (change my mind). More recently, Top Gun and No Time to Die take the top spots.

What does your forever home look like?

Everyone’s got a realistic, practical idea of their forever home. And then they’ve got their dream house that made them do a triple-take and imagine a fantasy life in it. I’ll tell you about the latter. I would love a very modern, luxury home with a black exterior on a cliffside above the Sea-to-Sky highway in Vancouver. Black and white interior, with an elevator, mainly tile floors, heated driveway and three-car garage. Floor-to-ceiling windows for lots of natural lighting and, to top it all off, a pool, built-in hot tub, and a small basketball court where I can pretend to be Steph Curry. Nothing too crazy.
