March’s Home Maintenance Checklist

It’s that time of year again when your clocks spring forward. That’s right, it’s March and that means it’s time to review the March Home Maintenance Checklist!

March is a great time to tackle some of those often-neglected tasks around your house. Start by checking your smoke and CO2 detectors to ensure they’re working, and replace batteries if they have any.

As warmer weather approaches, now is also a great time to contact your local HVAC company to get your air conditioner maintenance scheduled in. Not only will this ensure that your AC is working properly, but that it’s also working efficiently. Even something as simple as a dirty radiator can slow it down and make it work harder.

Spring is also just around the corner and with that comes rain. So, while mother nature will be putting your sump pump to the test, you will want to make sure that you test it beforehand to ensure it’s working properly.  As the snow melts, it’s also a great time to address any grading issues.  Excessive water build-up around your foundation can lead to water penetration into the home.  Simply adding soil or adjusting hardscape to slope away from the house can save you from some serious flooding problems.
